According to The World Health Organization’s (WHO) definition of health, mental well-being is one of the key elements, constructing an overall health. This is one of the main components of human well-being and effective societal functioning.
Good mental health is an indicator of the healthy human. It enables person to self-actualize, overcome daily stress and maintain productive lifestyle. However, the impact of social, psychological and biological factors can lead to poor mental health and result in depression, addictions or other mental illnesses. Therefore, one of the main priorities in the public health department is the mental health improvement. It is essential so that we could ensure the psychosocial well-being of the population as well as advance in preventing disease
Mental health also depends on the physical health. People, who engage in regular physical activities, maintaining a healthy well-balanced diet, as well as having regular sleeping routines are energetic and optimistic. In order to promote strong mental health, the Klaipeda’s Public Health Office recommends to rejoice in what we have, find a favorite activity or hobby, constantly improve oneself, do not stress over misfortunes, learn to take responsibility and not to be afraid to tackle difficult tasks.
